Lifestyle Suitable For Modern Expectant Women

The modern woman is always busy and more exposed to situations which may complicate child birth. Take the example of a working-class expectant mother who reports to work every morning and is also required to be home early so as to cook for the family. In town, the air is very dirty and toxic due to pollution from vehicle and industry fumes. Such an environment is convenient for the transmission of airborne diseases such as flu. Since you share the same blood as your unborn child such diseases may also be spread to the fetus.

In addition, the toxic fumes may cause cancer of the placenta. This may cause a lot of pain to the mother and cause the placenta to work inefficiently. Such a cancer may cause the pregnancy to result in still birth; and the mother may develop further complications that can make her unable to give birth in the future. It is advisable for pregnant mothers to avoid places with polluted air. And such may include overcrowded public transport vehicles and the Central Business District.

Alternatively, the mother can have a short nature walk or stroll in the park so as to exercise and breathe in fresh air. However, strenuous exercises should be avoided as they put pressure on the baby. For example; jogging while pregnant is not advised because the fetus will continuously move out of position due to irregular patterns of the amniotic fluid. It is also not recommendable to engage in anaerobic exercises because they compromise the fetus’ oxygen supply and ‘blue birth’ may occur. Blue birth is a condition where the baby’s skin color appears blue soon after birth due to insufficient supply of oxygen. If action is not taken soon enough such a child may perish. Nevertheless, an expectant woman should avoid stress because it interferes with immunity and the child may be at risk of catching avoidable diseases.
